The Girly Momma Movement
After eons of the world running based on the “masculine model”, you may be interested in knowing that there is a rapidly growing undercurrent of mothers (and this includes anyone who cares for or protects in a maternal way) who are ready for something different. All across the planet they are whispering a powerful yet nurturing message into the wind, and it is being echoed across the planet in two distinct parts.
A candid and hysterical look at why none of us are ever going to win that mother of the year award, but should continue to shoot for it anyway.

Happy Birthday Mom
09/29/08
As timing would have it, this week my mom is turning 70.
My sister-in-law started a great tradition of writing personal letters to the honored guest and then beautifully binding them. It's just a beautiful gift and so we did it for my mom as well.
It felt right to share mine with all of you. We all strive to be the best mom we can so that when our kids look back on their childhood, the need for therapy is minimal. As you read it, please know that my mom is not perfect, but I honor her for who she is opposed to the fairytale mom that most of think we...Full Story

The Heartbreak Stranger
09/10/08
The last time I saw my father I was 14 years old. I am about to turn 40, so that was 26 years ago. He and my mother got divorced when I was 4, and for the next decade we saw him less and less as time passed. The longest I spent with him in those years was for two weeks when I was 6. After that, I only saw him now and then for a day or a weekend.
My mother was a difficult woman to get along with. She hated my father, and everything she ever said about him reflected that. She certainly did not make it easy or pleasant for him to come around. In addition to that, my father got remarried...Full Story

The Secret Soccer Society
09/09/08
What do I have to do to get my kid on a stink'n sports team? Who do I have to bribe, lobby or (and I'm not above it) stalk? What's the secret? There was obviously a codeword revealed during the Discovery Channel episode "Inside the Free Masons and the Secret Soccer Society".
Year after year, we miss the highly secretive deadline.
I just want to register the one and only of our four children who is actually interested in a competitive sport. I have the money and the time, yet year after year I have to confront those big wide eyes...Full Story

Celebrate Your Mother's Day
05/03/07
Mother's day 2007 will go down as only one of three Mother's Days I have ever had without my mom.
. It will be different this year because it will actually be all about me. I don't have a choice...my mother is on the trip of a lifetime, a 45 day cruise with my dad in the South Pacific. This is only the third time in my life (the other two were also because of travel) that I haven't celebrated it with her, and it's the first time as a mom myself.
It's funny because when I think of Mother's Day, I rarely think of it as a day for me to be honored....Full Story

Choosing a Home Based Business
06/02/07
Home-based businesses can provide many benefits. You can work your own schedule. You can make as much or as little as you want, and you can have the flexibility of a part time schedule but earn full time pay.
But with so many options, how can you decide if you should consider it or not? Here are the top ten things I looked at when I left my corporate job (and I was making a six figure salary when I did) to create the family-first life we really wanted.
1. Research the Company - because you want financial stability with lots of room for growth.

A Busy Mom's Workout
06/02/07
Between your busy home and work schedules you have no time for you. You promise yourself everyday "this will be the day to commit to a healthy lifestyle" and before you know it - after homework with the kids, running your kids to soccer games, bath time, dinner - it's 8:00 o'clock at night and you are exhausted. So, you say "tomorrow!"
Here is some food for thought. Your workouts do not have to be in a gym. They don't even all have to be at one time.
Think about your workout as a "budget for the whole day", kind of like...Full Story
